A-Case Heads to the Cello Biënnale 2026

After Cremona Musica 2026, A-Case is heading to Amsterdam for Cello Biënnale Amsterdam 2026, where our team will be exhibiting from 30 October to 7 November at the festival market in Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ.

We’ll bring a selection of ready-to-ship handcrafted carbon fibre cello cases, available to see and handle in person throughout the festival.

The market is part of the Cello Biënnale’s main festival programme and is free to visit. A-Case will be among the makers and specialist companies gathered on the Foyerdeck, where visitors can explore instruments, meet makers and try cellos in the festival’s KlankKas.

The world’s largest cello festival

Now in its 11th edition, Cello Biënnale Amsterdam is a ten-day international festival dedicated entirely to the cello. It is the world’s largest cello festival, bringing together leading international cellists, ensembles and orchestras alongside competitions, masterclasses and more than 100 events across Amsterdam’s Muziekgebouw and BIMHUIS since 2006.

The scale of the programme is matched by its range. Classical repertoire sits alongside contemporary music, jazz, pop, rock, improvisation and music from different cultural traditions. The 2026 edition, titled Shifting Borders, explores the ways the cello can move across musical, cultural and artistic boundaries.

The festival opens on 29 October with Raphaela Gromes, Abel Selaocoe and Amsterdam Sinfonietta. Over the following days, the programme includes artists such as Nicolas Altstaedt, Kian Soltani, Giovanni Sollima, Laura van der Heijden and the 12 Cellists of the Berliner Philharmoniker. There is also the National Cello Competition, masterclasses, Bach & Breakfast performances, Cellofest and a 140-player cello orchestra.

A festival built around the instrument

For A-Case, the makers’ side of the Cello Biënnale is just as significant as its concert programme.

Instrument makers have been part of the Biënnale since its beginning. During the 2026 edition, the Foyerdeck will once again become a dedicated cello market, with cello and bow makers presenting their instruments and opening their workshops to visitors. The KlankKas provides a space where instruments can be played and compared, while special presentations during the festival put makers’ cellos and bows in the hands of leading performers.

That combination — musicians, instruments and the people who make the equipment around them — makes the Cello Biënnale Amsterdam a particularly natural place for A-Case.
